Beast Mode is Back
Andrew Flores – Apr 26, 2017
After what seems like a lifetime of waiting everyone’s favorite running back is back in black. Just when we thought they wouldn’t pull it off, the Raiders got Beast Mode. It seems like some things are just meant to be. While Carr is the unquestioned face of the franchise, Beast Mode brings so much to this Raiders team. I won’t pull punches Marshawn Lynch is a tone-setter and his bone-crushing, no-nonsense run style is going to give the Raiders offense the knock-out power it will need. In a whirlwind of an offseason where the Patriots made move after move, the Raiders needed to make some moves. Trading for Beast Mode was a hell of a move.
Lynch brings a valuable veteran presence to a young team that still has room to grow. While the Raiders’ young stars are developing into leaders in their own right, the locker room needed more. It showed in the Raiders losses, especially in the playoff loss to the Texans. While the Raiders likely wouldn’t have been able to beat the Patriots without Carr, they should have handled the Texans. That loss hurt, but beyond that it showed the need for more leadership. Often an underappreciated aspect of football, leadership is the difference between a good team and a great team. Great teams have great leaders behind them. Lynch brings that to this Raiders team. His attitude and grit give the Raiders the spirit they need. Lynch gives this young Raiders team an old-school Raiders' attitude.
Now the more cautious among Raider Nation might not be celebrating tonight. After-all Lynch is a 31-year-old running back, and running backs aren’t great after thirty. But Lynch is coming fresh off of a year away from the NFL and while that time away does bring about its own concerns. Lynch is far from your average running back. I for one can’t help but believe Beast Mode is back. After all we all need heroes and hometown heroes like Beast Mode write their own stories.
