Oakland Has Too Much Talent To Be Playing This Poorly. The Season Is Being Wasted, And Quite Frankly We Here In Raider Nation Deserve Better!!

Holla At Me Raider Nation!

I was going to title this article something like"Ravens Turn Black Hole Into Bird Bath." However, I'm not in the mood right now to try and be funny, or cute. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm disgusted with this team right now.

I was hoping that the Raiders would start to turn things around, and open the 2nd quarter of the season with a home win; Stupid me. However, if I'm being honest (with myself) underneath it all I can't say that I'm surprised that they lost on Sunday at home to the Ravens.

Over the last three weeks now the Raiders have shown me nothing. We've had some solid individual performances; However the teams performance (coaching staff included) as a whole, has been suspect. What I don't understand is how, after coming close to the big game last season, they can play so poorly to start this one. How (and why) are these guys not focused on winning (or at the very least playing in) the super bowl?

Raiders On O.

As I stated In my last article, if Oakland was going to have any chance of winning this game then the players around quarterback E.J. Manuel were going to need to step up their game; Unfortunately, that is not what happened. Ideally what you want in your backup quarterback is an aging veteran. A guy who you can count on to come in, and carry the team (until the starter returns) and get you two, or three wins. What the Raiders have in Manuel, is not an aging experienced vet. They have a project.

When you have a "project quarterback" then your offensive stability has to come from other places. Your offensive line needs to be able to sustain blocks longer. They must give your quarterback the time he needs to look over the defense, and find his receivers. I don't want to go into stats but, I know for a fact that after five games, Raiders offensive line have surrendered more sacks then it did all of last season.

When you have a project quarterback your running game needs to be strong; The last thing you need is him throwing the ball 50 times a game just to keep your team in the contest. Again, I don't want to go into stats but I know for a fact that Marshawn Lynch has not been "Beast Mode" here in Oakland; He's been more like "Baby Boy."

You also need, and must have receivers who can (and will) catch the ball, even if the pass is not perfectly thrown; However, especially if it hits them right in the hands!! I don't know what the story is with wide receiver Amari Cooper (who is dropping passes like he's allergic to them), or for that matter what the story is with tight end Jared Cook (his first quarter fumble, which turned into a Baltimore touchdown was inexcusable); Perhaps both of these men need to visit with Fred Biletnikoff, and see if he's got some heart, and stick-em he can bless them with.

You need a good, and accurate field goal kicker; Points on the board can't always come from the team scoring touchdowns. Last, but most certainly not least you need to have a strong defense; At least we (the Raiders) got the field goal kicker part right.

Raiders On D.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm sick of the Raiders defense. Got a few questions for your Raider Fanatics. How long has it been since we've been able to rush the quarterback?? If it wasn't for K. Mack, we would be dead!! How long has it been since we were able to stop a running back? It's seems to me that every team either rushes for 100 yards, or seems to always get the yardage needed to sustain drives, and score points.

Why is it that we still can't cover a tight end, or stop a running back from catching passes out of the backfield? Or get off the field on third down!! In my previous article I mentioned the struggles that quarterback Joe Flacco was having; I also spoke about how the Baltimore Ravens had been shut out in the first half of their pervious two contests.

So what happens in the Raider game? Oakland allows Joe Flacco to get on track. Moreover, the Baltimore offense score 14 points in the 1st quarter, and the game for all intent, and purposes is over. Even in victory, you could say that we have yet to play a complete game;

Opposing running backs, tight ends, and wide receivers have had their way with the Oakland defense. Sean Smith, David Amerson, and T.J. Carrie, just to name a few suspect defenders have all been picked on, and embarrassed by the Raiders opponents this season. Reggie McKenzie needs to do a better job finding talent; Moreover, it's time for defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. to go, and I don't mean to Vegas. As I said at the outset, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm sick of the Raider defense.

End Game.

This is not how true super bowl contenders perform; We know it, and the team should know it too. After the 12-4 2016 resurgence, expectations were high for the 2017 season. However, The Raiders are in the process of flushing that, and this season down the toilet.They can't blame injury, or the schedule. They can only blame themselves.
