Oakland Raiders Dominate the Denver Broncos since 2007

Damali Binta – Nov 2, 2011

One way to get a look at the rivalry between the Denver Broncos and the Oakland Raiders is to scan the head to head data. If you look at the history over the 21 games they have played since 2001, then the Broncos are up by one game, 11-10.

This article is focused on a shorter time period from 2007 to 2011. Several observations can be made.

Of the nine games played since 2007, the head to head data shows that the Oakland Raiders have won six out of the nine games. There have been four consecutive victories over the Broncos since Dec. 20, 2009.

All of this sounds good except there is another reality that must be dealt with. The injuries of Darren McFadden and Jason Campbell change the content and character of the Oakland Raiders. Some fast and quick adjustments have to be made in order to stabilize and level the playing field on Nov. 6.

If the Oakland Raiders are too confident, yet not fully prepared for the game, another heartbreak could occur. However, since Hue Jackson, his staff and  the players know that a lot is at stake, then they will not risk having a sloppy show in O.co Coliseum.

Comparing the data in "total yardage" shows Oakland with 366.0 yards and Denver with 305.0. In the category "yards passing," Oakland has 206.3 and Denver has 179.6.

One fact can not be ignored. Jason Campbell is out for the season, it seems. Carson Palmer has to quickly adjust, otherwise the "yards passing" data could be truncated.

When we look at "yards rushing" we see that Denver has 125.9 and Oakland has 159. Again, the reality is that Darren McFadden, the player who is known for his ability in "yards rushing" is also injured.

The game on Nov. 6 could be a "thriller or a killer" of the expectations of the Raider Nation.

Let's hope the tenacity and preparation of the Oakland Raiders are strong enough to overcome some of the challenges prompted by the injuries and other factors.

Just win, baby! We, the Raider Nation, have got to have it! I am talking about a victory on Nov. 6!
