Raiders Should Highly Consider Drafting Terrence Ganaway with Mid RD Pick

Gary Bolanos – Mar 28, 2012

Terrence Ganaway is a big bruising yet swift back out of Baylor that the Raiders can really use as a replacement for Michael Bush. He is 6'0" 241lbs, only 4 lbs less than Bush and he can add to that frame. His 2011 stats were: 250 carries, 1547 yrds and 21 TDs. He also averaged a crazy 6.2 yds per carry in 2011, second only to LeMichael James 7.3 yrds per carry, and scored just as many TDs as Trent Richardson and as a 240 pounder, he ran a 4.63 40.

Numbers look great! The only knock on him is that he's not great at catching the ball out the back field and is looked at as a situational back. That benefits the Raiders. We're not looking for a starting back, we got DMC. Ganaway will fit lovely as that power back and will be able to contribute almost immediately, especially in goal line situations. I feel he is our best solution at RB and we should draft him with our 4th rounder.

Some quick side notes on Ganaway, he was 2011 Big 12 All Academic Second-Teamer, he was a 2 time Baylor Dean List and a 5 time Big 12 Commissioners Honor Roll selection. So he's no nuckle-head, perfect for the type of character/player McKenzie/Allen are looking for. Follow me @mondongo6
