Oakland Raiders Rolando McClain Sentenced to 180 Days in Jail

Elias Trejo – May 17, 2012

Rolando McClain was found guilty of all four charges and was sentenced to 180 days in jail. He was given 45 days for each charge that he was found guilty of. He is set to start his sentence on June 1st. He will miss the majority of the NFL season and his future with the Raiders could now be in question.

This will be a big blow to the Raiders defense as they will now look to replace McClain, who was the play caller and leader on defense the last two years. McClain can appeal the sentence in circuit court to reduce the jail time. If he does so he will be allowed to stand trial in front of a jury. Aside form his issues with the law, he'll also face possible punishment from Roger Goodell and could face a league suspension.

McClain's charges included assualt, reckless endangerment, menacing and wrongful discharge of a firearm.

***Update*** Rolando McClain will appeal his sentence.
