Oakland Raiders: These Haters have Lost Their Minds!

Jerry Rump – Jul 11, 2012

Every year it’s more of the same old same old when it comes to the mass media and their undeniable hatred for the Oakland Raiders. All of us in Raider Nation really understand better than most, what it is like to listen to some fool spout off ill-logical rants that absolutely have little to no true knowledge of the game to support them.

From Charger games to Facebook chat rooms there is always some big mouth fool with plenty to say but none of it comes from knowledge of the game. Instead, it is most normally an emotional response to having had the Raiders crush their team so decisively year in and year out, that they just lose it at the mere mention of the Silver and Black.

This is a proven fact as every Raider fan has had it happen to them.

Normally, this kind of thing is understood because the culprit is a fan of Denver, SanDiego, Kansas City, or some conference foe like Pittsburgh or New England or well…. basically, all of the NFL .

I have even been accosted by mentally ill Philly fans because of the beat-down the Raiders gave them in Super Bowl XV and all just because I had on my Raiders hat and wanted a freaking cheesesteak. I couldn’t help but rub it in by bringing up Rod Martin. These fanatics did not find it as humorous as I did. *Note to self: Roll-deep next time you go to Philly.*

Like I was saying though, this is all fine and even expected if you are a member of Raider Nation and most of us wear the hate as a symbol of pride. Few teams and fans match the passion and pride exhibited by the one true Nation. Hate is just their feeble-minded attempt at respect.

However, it is becoming more and more the trend for sports analysts to join the Raider hater bandwagon and bash the team any and every chance they get.  Turn on the NFL Network or ESPN anytime and it doesn’t take long until you start hearing it.

Many of them are former NFL players such as Merrill Hoge, Ron Jaworski, Chris Carter, Tom Jackson, Shannon Sharpe, Dan Fouts, Chris Collinsworth, and of course even former Raiders’ player, Warren Sapp,  who runs his mouth like a big baby that had his pacifier stolen.

Even this, I can kind of tolerate as most of them experienced lots of pain and disappointment when they had to line up and play against the Raiders. Warren Sapp however is just a whining cry baby that doesn’t deserve to even have a twitter account, less than be on national television voicing his ridiculous opinions like people really care.

Really Warren, you were a mediocre lineman surrounded by exceptional talent back in the day and no-one cares anymore. Hang it up and pay your child support.

But when some no name ex-game-show host wannabe like, Colin Cowherd, gets in on the bashing and even says that if it were up to him, the Raiders would be one of four teams he would eliminate from the NFL on his show The Herd, that is where the line has been crossed that basically breaks the pirate’s back and I must address this issue by saying: …”Well, allow me to retort Mr. Cowherd.”

For many years now, we have had to sit and continually listen to you and your colleagues bash our team and considering the disappointing way they have played, deservedly so.

However, to try and say that the Raiders are one of the worst bottom feeders in the NFL because of a ten year losing streak and should be eliminated, I have to ask… have you lost your damn mind?

This is the rebels of the NFL we are talking about here. The 3 time Super Bowl champs, the men in black, Mr. Davis’ Oakland RRRRRAAAAIIIDDDDDEEEERRRSSS.! Who are you and where do you get off attacking the Silver and Black and raising the ire of all of Raider Nation?

I understand you are from Washington state and that the Seattle Seahawks have done absolutely nothing to make your state proud, but do not blame just the Raiders for all of that failure on your team’s disappointing performances over the years.

Granted we beat your team down pretty good over the years, but it sounds to me like you have some serious transference issues home boy. You really should be hating on your own team as they have been on the bottom of the NFL for their entire existence.

Sure we destroyed your hopes in 1983 and cost you a trip to the Super Bowl, which we won. Yes, our Bo demolished your Boz on Monday night in front of the entire Nation, but seriously Colin, you have got to learn to let that stuff go. Harboring that kind of hatred for so long can give you serious health problems.

I also understand you’re desperate for ratings as The Herd is about the weakest show out there on both talk radio and ESPN, but again, spreading your personal hate and disillusioned fantasies on the air in an attempt to incorporate more 13 year olds into your camp is not only desperate, but will only lead to bad karma for you and reflect as a poor life decision for the kids.

Think about the children Colin before you run off at the mouth next time.

You really want better ratings? Keep your personal opinions to yourself—no one wants to listen to that drivel.

It would be different if this was an isolated incident and all because then, we could chalk it up to a momentary lapse of reason or a bad bran muffin or something. However, this is an ongoing thing with you and your front-running, bandwagon compadres and it has now gone too far.

As a matter of fact, why are there so many Raider haters employed in sports broadcasting these days? Does the application process for ESPN include extensive background checks to ensure your hater status? "Check box A if you are a Raider hater, all else need not apply."

It sure seems like you all just love to guffaw and whoop it up patting each other on the back as you dish out your over-rated opinions and bash on one of the NFL’s most storied franchises. Trust me when I say real sports fans, and not just those in Raider Nation, are sick of it too.

Real fans of the game may not like Oakland, but they damn sure respect what this franchise has accomplished.

Spitting out rants and tirades like the rest of the haters just proves you are as illogical and petty as they are. Have you even listened to yourself on this recording where you bash the Raiders? I’m no expert but it sounds to me like you have built up more resentment and pain than a guy who awoke from a drunken stupor to find out the girl he went home with was a dude!

Seriously, because here you are again in an article from NFL.com reporter, Marc Sessler, where you say the Raider fans are some of the most delusional fans in all of sports. I think Seahawk’s fans head that department. It’s not the weather in Seattle that has the suicide rate so high, it’s the prospect of facing another losing season that sends people over the edge there. No wonder the Supersonics split for Oklahoma!

Clearly, you really have lost your mind because to enrage all of Raider Nation against you is a move you will live to regret.

Raider fans never forget, and trust me Mr. Cowherd, once ESPN notices the hate coming from all these fans you’ve continuously dissed, you will look around one day and find your audience has shrunken down to the local bowling alley as you spout your nonsense over AM radio. And the only reason they’re listening is because that’s the only station they get.

You are not Dan Patrick and your shelf life on ESPN is growing closer to expiration every time you open your mouth to spew your personal hatred. Without that name-brand behind you, nobody outside of the most delusional Seattle fans will continue to listen to your programs.

And Mr. Cowherd...if you think I was a bit too harsh on you, if my little tirade against you hurt you widdle feelers, just wait until Raider Nation Times bloggers Captain Jack Rack 'Em, Jon York and Nick Chicoine get done with you!

Okay, that concludes my reply to Mr. Cowherd.

I must say Raider Nation, that when you really think about it, outside of Rich Gannon and Howie Long, there really isn’t a whole lotta love going on in broadcast journalism these days for the Raiders. But it would be nice to have a few more Raider guys out there for leverage.

Then again, maybe it's okay this way as the best revenge will come from winning. Either way, we cannot let clowns like Cowherd get away with these tirades. Join up and flood his Twitter account and Facebook page with Raider Nation’s own special way of response to this outrage and lets show him its not wise to pick fights with the Darkside!
