Oakland Raiders: Team Waives DT Travis Ivey, Returns CB Ron Bartell to Practice

Stuart Kovacs – Aug 5, 2012

On Sunday, the Oakland Raiders waived defensive tackle Travis Ivey, according to the team’s official Twitter page.

Ivey, who played his college football at the University of Maryland, didn’t practice with the team since the opening of training camp due to conditioning issues.

He also missed most of the team’s mandatory mini-camp practices after a weight lifting accident which resulted in a concussion.

The Raiders signed Ivey, 25, on January 3 in hopes that he would play the role of a nose tackle as the defense began to implement some 3-4 looks.

In addition to waiving Ivey, the Raiders also returned cornerback Ron Bartell to practice.

Bartell, who is expected to be one of the team’s starting cornerbacks when the season starts, has also not practiced so far in training camp due to a hamstring injury.

However, it looks as if Bartell is very close to practicing as he passed his physical and now only has to sit through a three-day acclimation period, according to Steve Corkran’s Twitter page

The Raiders have training camp practice on Sunday from 2:20 to approximately 4:50 PM PST. Raider Nation Times will keep track of all training camp coverage.
