Dissecting Palmers Interception
Dr. Nick Chicoine – Aug 15, 2012
Carson Palmer was not quite clicking with his receivers on Monday. Then again he was able to hit Jacoby Ford 3 tims in the hands only to end up with an interception as the only relevant statistic. Now according to Jon Gruden on Monday Night Football, Carson Palmer shouldn't of even made that throw. Now I agree it was not the best decision, however it's not like Palmer didn't give Jacoby Ford a chance at the ball. If you look closely the ball goes right through Fords hands.
This is a frame by frame look at the interception. What do you think Raider Nation, was this a catchable ball? If Ford catches this ball is it considered an excellent throw? Could Ford have taken a better outside release to seperate him further from the safety? What do you think Raider Nation, bad throw, or bad catch?

Coach Allen was asked about this play by the media on Tuesday, this was his response.
Q: Does Jacoby [Ford] need to do a better job fighting for the ball on the interceptionCarson Palmer
threw?
Coach Allen: Obviously there’s a couple things there. Carson thought that safety was a little bit more centered up. It was middle of the field safety so it wasn’t a double coverage situation. It’s the thing you coach your quarterback to do, to take a shot in those situations. I think Jacoby could have been a little better at the end of the route trying to break that thing up. You’re going to take that shot. We want to be aggressive there and we wanted to take a shot and get a big play but it didn’t work out for us.
....Translation... Yes
Regardless of who's fault this interception was, Jacoby Ford needs to be more consistent. Look for Palmer to give Ford some short route passes early against Arizona to get his confidence up. I suspect Ford to bounce back from this, because Rod Streater is making a very convincing statement on the field. If Ford isn't careful, he could lose some playing time to Streater. Look for Ford to play more inspired football on Friday, because his job is depending on it.
