Oakland Raiders Hold Workout for DL Andre Carter

Stuart Kovacs – Aug 22, 2012

After Tuesday's practice, the Oakland Raiders held a workout for defensive lineman Andre Carter, according to Paul Gutierrez’s Twitter page.

Carter, 33, played for the New England Patriots last season where he compiled 10 sacks. In three of his last five seasons, Carter has accumulated double-digit sacks.

Head coach Dennis Allen did admit that the team is looking at Carter in an attempt to catch lightning in a bottle.

“We’re going to shake all the bushes and see what falls out.”

Carter denied interview after working out siting that he needs to let everything simply play out.

“I gotta stay low key, brother. If it works out, God willing.”

Carter, who played college football at California, was not re-signed by the Patriots after having quadriceps surgery during the offseason. However, the workout would likely indicate that Carter is fully healed.

While no signing is imminent as of yet it'll be interesting to see if Carter catches on with the Silver and Black as a replacement for Kamerion Wimbley who had 16 sacks over the past two seasons.

Raider Nation Times will continue to monitor the situation as well as any other roster moves.
