Oakland Raiders: UDFA S Aaron Henry Tweets that He has Been Released
Stuart Kovacs – Aug 26, 2012
The point in time in the offseason when players begin to get cut in large numbers throughout the NFL is quickly approaching.
Safety Aaron Henry was the first of nearly 15 Oakland Raiders cut between now and 1:00 PM tomorrow, according to Henry’s Twitter page.
Henry, 23, is an undrafted rookie out of Wisconsin that the Raiders signed on May 10 to add depth to the position.
With Michael Huff, Tyvon Branch, Matt Giordano, and Mike Mitchell being almost guaranteed roster spots at the safety position, it was always a longshot for Henry to make the team.
Henry was extremely thankful to the Raiders organization for the opportunity that he was given.
“S/O to the @RAIDERS for this amazing opportunity!!! Unfortunately it didn't work out but your boy is blessed to have been here!!!!”
While Henry was the first player to reportedly be cut, he will not be the last.
The Raiders need to get their roster to 75 players by tomorrow afternoon so nearly 15 more players will be cut.
Raider Nation Times will continue to monitor any player movement as roster deadlines approach.
