Oakland Raiders Waive OT Joseph Barksdale
Elias Trejo – Sep 26, 2012
According to Adam Caplan's Twitter page, the Oakland Raiders have released Joseph Barksdale. He is the second third rounder from the 2011 draft that the Raiders have waived under Reggie McKenzie. It is obvious that McKenzie wasn't too impressed with the Raiders 2011 draft as he has also released a fourth rounder from that draft class.
Barksdale was not adjusting well to the zone blocking scheme and was jumped on the depth chart by rooke Tony Bergstrom. The Raiders are reloading their roster with guys that McKenzie and head coach Dennis Allen think will make them a better and deeper team. Barksdale shouldn't have a problem finding a team as he is a talented young player and could fit in well with another team's scheme.
