Oakland Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey Back To Practice
– Oct 2, 2012
Oakland Raiders' wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was seen on the practice field jogging according to Paul Guteierrez of CSN. Heyward-Bey was carted off the field after he laid motionless for several minutes from taking a helmet to helmet hit from Pittsburgh Steelers' safety Ryan Mundy.
Mundy hit Heyward-Bey in the end zone early in the fourth quarter of the game and was not penalized at the time. Later Heyward-Bey was diagnosed with a concussion and a neck sprain injury and Mundy was fined $21,000 by the NFL for the illegal hit.
Tuesday, Heyward-Bey was seen participating in running and catching drills on the practice field. At this time it's unknown when he will return to full contact.
For now, Heyward-Bey is expected to ease his way back into practice until he completes his series of concussion tests. If he's cleared for Week-6 at Atlanta, Heyward-Bey will likely return to the No. 2 receiver position for the Silver and Black behind Denarius Moore.
Raider Nation Times will monitory Heyward-Bey's progress and provide details as they become available.
