Transcending the Numbers: Oakland Raiders Can Defeat the Falcons

Damali Binta – Oct 11, 2012

The numbers tell a story. The story before the Oakland Raiders and the Atlanta Falcons game suggests that the Falcons may be favored by most experts. We know, however, that the passion and persistence of a team can help them defeat their opponent no matter what the numbers say.

For example, the head to head data suggests that the Atlanta Falcons are a stronger team. The data shows that the Falcons have defeated the Raiders two times, with one of the victories being a shutout.

The consistency chart indicates that the Falcons ended the 2011 season with a stronger record than the Oakland Raiders.

Also, the Falcons have a 5-0 record for the first five games in the 2012 regular season while the Raiders have a 1-3 record and a tendency to not win games immediately after Bye week.

If Dennis Allen wants to stop the storm of negative media attention about the 2012 performance of the Oakland Raiders, he needs to shake up the team and let them know that their job security is threatened, if they don't produce, soon and very soon.

It is simple in my opinion. Since the Oakland Raiders have started out with sluggish performance, one sure indicator of change would be a victory after Bye week in 2012.

Go Raiders! It's time for a change! Just win, baby!

Note:  In the chart, a win is coded 5 and a loss is coded 0. The oscillations indicate inconsistency.
