Oakland Raiders DE Lamarr Houston: AFC Defensive Player of Week-7
John Doublin – Oct 24, 2012
Oakland Raiders' defensive end, Lamarr Houston was named the AFC defensive player of the week by the NFL on Wednesday, according to the Raiders' official site.
Houston, a third year player from the University of Texas, was a dominant force last Sunday against the Jaguars, making play after play to frustrate the Jacksonville offense.
Eight tackles, (6 solo, 2 assists) one sack, and the monumental, game-changing forced fumble in overtime that allowed Sebastian Janikowski to hit the game-winning 41 yard field goal.
Eight tackles from a defensive line position is a phenomenal feat, but to add a near safety, several stops behind the line of scrimmage against the run, and a sack is Herculean!
Houston is well deserving of this award and everyone at Raider Nation Times would like to congratulate him on his tremendous effort.
