NFL Week-11: Fantasy Football Preview

Luis Reyes – Nov 17, 2012

Oakland Raiders Fantasy starters

Carson Palmer (QB)– I guess I will keep including Carson Palmer in this piece every week, since Knapp and the Raiders can only pass the ball; I mean the guy is averaging over 50 pass attempts the past two games!

The New Orleans Saints are ranked 31st against the pass allowing 307.3 yards per game. The Saints defense has been horrible but so has the Raiders defense, so expect Palmer to get a lot of garbage points in this match-up.

Denarius Moore (WR) – With Heyward-Bey listed as questionable there is no doubt Moore will be the focus of the passing attack. Even if Heyward-Bey does suit up he probably won’t be at 100% so Moore should be the light in Palmer’s eyes.

The saints have allowed the most fantasy points to Wide Receivers this year, and Moore has come close to the 100 yards receiving in the last two of three games. A big game from Moore will be expected.

Marcel Reece (RB) – Surprisingly enough the college Wide Receiver converted to Fullback will be starting at Running back this Sunday… talk about versatility. Marcel Reece has been getting a great amount of touches the last couple of weeks both on the ground and through the air.

Given how weak the Saints defense is on both (ranked 32nd against the run), Reece is due for a big day. It is no secret that he is a great weapon and a match up nightmare in space. If there is one thing the Raiders offense has managed to do all season is get the ball to the running backs through the air.

Week 11 Sleepers

Andrew Luck (QB) – Andrew Luck is showing a lot of improvement in recent weeks. Fantasy wise he has produced more than 16 fantasy point in four straight games, and in real stats he has scored two or more touchdowns in his last two games.  Chances are the Colts will be playing from behind against the Patriots, meaning Luck should get plenty of pass attempts and more opportunities at getting fantasy points.

Stevan Ridley (RB) – Ridley has been inconsistent most of the season but what has been proven is that when he gets a good match up he takes advantage of it. With Brandon Bolden suspended Ridley will have a heavy work load against a colts team that is ranked 22nd against the run.

Steve Smith (WR) – Steve Smith has had a down year but some of that can be blamed on Newton poor performance. This week he has a chance to get back on the right track with a great match up against the Buccaneers. Smith has had success against this team all of his career and to make matters even better Tampa Bay has been very week defending the pass.

Week 11 Duds

Alex Smith (QB) – smith has been pretty quiet the last few weeks and has even been suffering from concussion symptoms. He is good to go this week but against a very tough Bears defense. The Bears have extraordinary causing turnovers and shutting down Quarterbacks, that’s exactly what you do not want to hear if you are a fantasy owner.

Jonathan Stewart (RB) – Stewart has not been what was expected this season. He has not been very productive and that is probably not going to change this week. Just how the Bucs are weak against the pass they have excelled at shutting down the run. They have not allowed many points through the ground, and chances are Newton will carry the ball in goal line situations.

Dennis Pitta (TE) – It’s amazing how many people still own Pitta in fantasy. After a hot start his production has greatly dropped. It could be because defenses are picking up on him or because Flacco has been very inconsistent, especially on the Road. This week he face a tough Steelers defense on the road. Chance are Flacco won’t be having one of greatest nights, therefore neither will Pitta.
